Our gardens are extensive and private, full of art with an entire hillside of unspoilt native forest including a rocky babbling brook, huge trees, fernery’s and photo opportunities galore. Your ceremony will be unforgettable under the trees in our woodland glade. It is truly a romantic and beautiful setting beside the tumbling Balguerie Stream with views across to the ferns and dappled light of the forest beyond.

Akaroa’s historic churches are all within easy walking distance, returning to Blythcliffe for champagne on the shell terrace served alongside French vintage marble tables is a 160 year old tradition. Some couples opt for their ceremony at Blythcliffe and the reception at a local restaurant or the wonderful, Edwardian Gaiety Theatre.We have the only flat lawn in the heart of Akaroa that is large enough for a marquee that will hold up to 130 guests.Talk to us about your ideas and options – we can help!
Blythcliffe is one of Akaroa’s premier bed and breakfast homes, it has 2 double rooms in the main house and one very spacious, self-contained, courtyard apartment; all of this comes free for your event night with your venue hire, including a plentiful and delicious breakfast.
Akaroa Event Hire can provide all of your crockery and glassware (extra cost applies) and we will clean up and recycle bottles on your behalf. You don’t have to worry about a thing.
